We hope that’s a link that from this day forward you make your own, a place to visit every day to stay abreast of how doings in the nation’s capital affect life in Hawaii.
Reporter-host Adrienne LaFrance has made the move from Honolulu Hale to Capitol Hill. When she was here, politicians and those who were interested in what was really going on in Honolulu knew they had to turn to Adrienne to get the real picture. (The photo with this article shows Mayor Peter Carlisle on election night last year learning his fate from Adrienne.)
We expect that the same will hold true for anybody interested in understanding the forces shaping Hawaii with Adrienne reporting from Washington, D.C. You can read to what she’ll be doing on her new blog, .
Her goal, as she puts it, is to “better connect Hawaii residents to the people in Washington making critical decisions on their behalves.
“From the nation鈥檚 capital, we鈥檒l work to provide the kind of thoughtful, exhaustive, investigative coverage you鈥檝e come to expect from Civil Beat. But we also want to take you along on our day-to-day D.C. adventures.
“In this blog you鈥檒l find breaking news, updates on the congressional delegation, photographs and video, live updates from hearings, political analysis, exclusive interviews with key lawmakers and more, all aimed at best serving Hawaii readers.”
Adrienne was known for asking tough questions at Honolulu Hale, and for doing the digging necessary to get you the answers. She’ll be doing the same in D.C. So if there’s something you think she should know about or be asking questions about, we hope you’ll let her know. You can reach her at alafrance@civilbeat.com.
With Adrienne in Washington, Civil Beat becomes the only Hawaii news organization to have full-time staff reporters covering the capitals of the state and nation. We believe this is another step in making even more valuable what the Society of Professional Journalists already says is Hawaii’s best news website.
