Civil Beat is taking a new approach to covering West Oahu, one that involves deeper engagement with residents and others who live and work on the Westside.

The area faces numerous challenges and there is much to be celebrated, but there’s a big gap between how many people feel about their community and how it has traditionally been portrayed by the media.

We’ll be holding listening circles and engaging in other ways with people across the Westside as we explore the issues and events that frame this area from Ewa to Makaha, Waipahu to Waianae.
