Starting Saturday, beaches on Oahu will be open for more than just exercise and ocean access,聽Mayor Kirk Caldwell announced on Friday.

However, there are restrictions. Groups are limited to no more than 10 people and must be made up of members of the same household.

Beach visitors who are not members of the same household must comply with social distancing requirements. Caregivers may accompany dependents.聽

People can lounge on the beach a half-hour before sunrise until a half-hour after sunset. People engaged in shore fishing or exercise may enter beach parks outside those hours.

Residents may also call the city’s information hotline at 768-CITY (2489) or email .聽The City and County of Honolulu COVID-19 information call center remains open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, except on holidays.
