Veteran State Official Appointed To Labor Board
Dwight Takamine, a former legislator, will succeed Marcus Oshiro.
Hawaii Gov. Josh Green has selected a new member for the Hawaii Labor Relations Board.
Dwight Takamine is a former state legislator and a former Department of Labor and Industrial Relations director and lawyer.
He will take the place of another former legislator, Marcus Oshiro, who was appointed in 2017 and also served as chair.
According to a press release from the Green administration, Takamine served as a state House representative from 1984 to 2007 and as a state senator from 2008 until 2010.
He began his legal career in Honolulu before opening a law office in Hilo, where he took over his father’s seat in the House.
Takamine will serve in an interim capacity until his confirmation is heard by the state Senate.
The , according to its website, is to “is to enforce and protect the rights of employees and unions to organize and bargain collectively in balance with the rights of employers to manage operations, as provided by law, and to fairly and efficiently resolve labor disputes brought before it.”
