Some Oahu Businesses Will Reopen Thursday With Restrictions
Pet grooming services and music lessons can resume at home, with limitations.
Car washes, auto dealerships and golf courses are among the Oahu businesses that will be allowed to resume operations on Thursday afternoon.
Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell announced on Wednesday that he got Gov. David Ige’s blessing to amend his emergency order to loosen COVID-19 restrictions. The order is in effect from 4:30 p.m. on Thursday through 4:30 p.m. on May 18.
鈥淭ogether, we are taking the first steps towards a more open way of life,” he said in a statement. “Getting people back to work is a priority right now and we will continue to make decisions based on all available data and sound science.鈥
The amended order allows for certain real estate services; visits by appointment to car dealerships; automated services that don’t require human interaction, like car washes; mobile services such as at-home pet grooming; one-on-one services like tutoring and music lessons; and golf courses.
All of these activities are being allowed with limitations. Visiting gravesites has also been added as an essential activity.
The City and County of Honolulu will continue to work with the Ige and neighbor island mayors to relax Honolulu鈥檚 stay-at-home order going forward, the city said.
