Senate Panel To Consider Hawaii Supreme Court Nominee Nov. 16
A second special session for the Senate is scheduled for Nov. 18.
A panel of state senators on will begin the public vetting process for 1st Circuit Court Judge Todd Eddins’ appointment to the state Supreme Court.
Eddins, who will likely be Gov. David Ige’s only court appointment, was seen by many in the legal community as the candidate most likely to join the liberal-leaning majority of the court that includes Associate Justices Sabrina McKenna and Michael Wilson.
Eddins is expected to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee, which is tasked with vetting court candidates. The committee, chaired by Sen. Karl Rhoads, has expanded its membership since last year from five to seven.
On the same day, the committee is also set to consider Stephanie Char for confirmation to a family court on Kauai.

The Senate is expected to convene its second special session of the year Nov. 18.
