The Next Civil Beat Pop-up Newsroom On Maui Postponed Due To Wildfires
We’ll be rescheduling our visit to Makawao to a later date.
The Civil Beat team will be at elevation at the Makawao Public Library on Wednesday for our latest neighbor island pop-up newsroom.
The venue is fitting since it also happens to be National Book Lovers Day.
Drop in starting at noon to meet with a team of reporters and editors who will be available to answer your questions about our nonprofit newsroom. We also invite you to share tips on what stories you think we should be reporting.
Many of the conversations we have at these events are the basis for future stories.
Our neighbor island pop-up newsrooms are proving to be some of most well-attended, and given the rapidly changing nature of local media coverage, we are making a particular effort to get out to regional communities.
Politics and opinion editor Chad Blair, deputy editor Matthew Leonard, Hawaii Grown reporter Thomas Heaton and multimedia producer Ku’u Kauanoe will be among the team there for the afternoon until around 5 p.m.
We head to Kailua-Kona for our next pop-up newsroom on Aug. 29.
