See You At Manoa Public Library For Civil Beat’s Next Pop-up Newsroom
Meet with reporters and editors Friday July 28 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Look for the distinctive orange Wavemaker van outside Manoa Public Library, when Civil Beat holds its latest pop-up newsroom.
These events, typically at public library branches, are a regular part of Civil Beat’s community engagement and are a chance for readers to share story ideas and find out more about our nonprofit newsroom.
The Manoa branch is a , and at a little more than 10 years old, definitely one of the newer facilities our staff have had a chance to visit.
Our previous pop-up newsroom was at the Mililani Community Library in Central Oahu.
Members of the Civil Beat team who will be available include Managing Editor Kim Gamel, Vice President of Operations and Philanthropy Ben Nishimoto, City and County reporter Kirstin Downey, Newsletter Editor Courtney Teague, interns Allan Kew and Jake Indursky and, Marissa Halagao, a recent graduate of Punahou School who is spending the week in the Civil Beat newsroom.
Readers we meet at the pop-up newsrooms often ask what Civil Beat does with the ideas they share. Quite a few of those conversations turn into our news stories including a recent story on development in Waikoloa.
Manoa Public Library is at 2716 Woodlawn Dr. in Honolulu and parking is free. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
