Bryan Talisayan, the incoming executive director of Mental Health America of Hawaii, has a vision for the future of the state’s top mental health advocacy group:
鈥淚 want people to know we are here and we aren鈥檛 going anywhere,” Talisayan said in a prepared statement. “Mental health is important for everyone鈥檚 overall wellbeing, which is why I see mental health services as primary care.鈥
With more than 20 years of experience working in the nonprofit sector, Talisayan has spent his career improving access to healthcare in Hawaii through leadership roles in Oahu’s health centers, including Ko鈥榦lauloa Health Center and Waikiki Health.
Born and raised in Waianae, Talisayan is committed to partnering to fill gaps in the mental health service arena and enhancing MHAH鈥檚 role in advocacy.
The 78-year-old Mental Health America of Hawaii is a mental health education and advocacy organization. It is an affiliate of a national organization that aims to enhance mental wellness through programming and advocacy for improved care.
