The Navy is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement for a new proposed submarine dry dock at the Pearl Harbor Navy Shipyard and is seeking community input.聽聽The proposed project is meant to give the Navy improved facilities maintenance on current and future classes of fast-attack submarines.
The Navy is initiating a 35-day public outreach and comment period through Oct. 19. Due to the pandemic, the Navy is using online platforms for its public outreach.
Navy officials have with overviews of the proposed plan and preliminary alternatives. The website has a section to electronically submit comments about the project and identify specific environmental concerns or topics for consideration in the EIS. The Navy will also hold a virtual public meeting on Sept. 29 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. followed by resource-specific breakout sessions from 6 to 7 p.m.
