Menor Raising Cash For Possible Mayoral Bid
The Honolulu City Council member calls the fundraiser exploratory.
Businessman Keith Amemiya is running for Honolulu mayor, and City Council member Kymberly Pine is all-but-declared. Both are actively raising money for the 2020 open seat.
Count council member Ron Menor in the hunt, too, at least tentatively. He’s holding next month at the Oahu Country Club that seeks up to $4,000 in individual contributions.
Menor’s fundraiser notice from the state Campaign Spending Commission calls the event exploratory. But it’s worth noting that was in May at the same venue, but for City Council and for a maximum of $1,500.
Menor is term-limited, however, and can not seek his District 9 seat (Waikele, Village Park, Royal Kunia, Mililani Town, West Loch, Iroquois Point and portions of Ewa Villages and Ewa Beach.)
The mayoral contest is drawing a potentially large pool of applicants.
