The junior senator from Hawaii was featured prominently in national media Wednesday after asking tough questions of Attorney General William Barr.
Mazie Hirono, a Democrat, accused Barr of lying to Congress over the Mueller report and demanded that he resign.
Hirono, as , said Barr betrayed the American public’s trust.
Hirono’s remarks prompted Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina of slandering Barr.
鈥淚 do not think that I鈥檓 slandering anyone,鈥 Hirono responded.
Noting the news, NPR on Wednesday reminded listeners via Twitter of a story on Hirono :
Mazie Hirono used to be known as the “good girl” of Hawaii politics.
She was seen as polite, never in-your-face, not a boat-rocker. But now, that view has changed.
As one Hawaii columnist put it, she is a “badass.”
