Manahan’s Chief Of Staff Running For City Council Seat
Radiant Cordero wants to represent the greater Kalihi area at Honolulu Hale.
Joey Manahan is term-limited on the Honolulu City Council, and so his seat is one of five open races in 2020.
Manahan’s own chief of staff, Radiant Cordero, would like to represent District 7, which represents Kalihi, lwilei, Kalihi Kai, Mapunapuna, Salt Lake, Aliamanu, Hickam, Foster Village, Ford Island and Sand Island.
“I grew up in the district and believe in community service,” said Cordero, who writes for the Fil-Am Courier and hosts a related radio show. “Working for Joey over the past decade, I have seen the impact of the work of representation, which is great. I want to continue that work.”
Public safety — at work, at home and at school — is a top priority for her, as is transportation issues and housing.
District 7, she said, which stretches from Aloha Stadium to Iwilei and Aala Park, as home to the highest amount of low-income housing on Oahu.
This is Cordero’s first run for public office.
She is scheduled to hold Thursday night at Duc’s Bistro downtown.
