Completed payments will be reimbursed.
Students of Kamehameha Schools Maui will have their tuition and bus fees waived this academic year following the recent fires.
The school notified parents and families of the plan Friday.
The Kamehameha campus is located in Upcountry Pukalani, but students are drawn from across Maui, said Chris Sugidono, program director for communications and campus relations.
The school’s K-12 program has a total of 1,126 students on the island.
The typical lower campus tuition fee is $5,248 and the upper campus tuition fee is $6,456 per year. An additional $1,651 is billed for bus transportation services.
Families who have already completed payments will be reimbursed and any further invoices and automated payments can be disregarded, the school said.
Kamehameha Schools is also collaborating with a recovery service to restore any educational documents that were destroyed in the fire.
