Gov. David Ige鈥檚 latest emergency proclamation for COVID-19 extended the eviction moratorium as well as detailed plans for a vaccine passport provision.

Through extending the eviction moratorium through June 8, landlords are prohibited from evicting residents for failure to pay all or a portion of rent, maintenance fees, utility charges, and taxes.

Ige鈥檚 emergency proclamation also included details on how Hawaii鈥檚 vaccine passport might eventually work. The proclamation said those who are fully vaccinated would be able to avoid quarantine and COVID-19 testing when flying to Hawaii by uploading valid vaccination documents to Safe Travels.

He said this vaccine passport provision will go into effect only if it is approved by the director of the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency.

Ige did not provide a timeline for when this will become available.

This latest proclamation also provided an extension for expiring driver鈥檚 licenses, state IDs and instructional permits that expired during the emergency period. This will allow county driver鈥檚 licensing centers to recover from the ongoing effects of the pandemic on availability of services.
