Honolulu Police To Increase Stay-At-Home Order Enforcement
Violators could face up to a $5,000 fine and/or one year in prison.
Honolulu police will step up its enforcement of the statewide stay-at-home order, the department announced in a tweet.
The Honolulu Police Department has already been enforcing the order, which has been in effect since March 23. As of Monday, officers have issued 4,660 warnings and 353 citations for violations.
The penalty for violating the emergency order is up to a $5,000 fine and/or one year of imprisonment.

Honolulu Police Chief Susan Ballard said at a mayor’s news conference last week that the police department is not requiring essential workers to carry letters from employers.
But when people are stopped for violations, they may be questioned about where they are going, she said.
