Hawaiian Airlines Cancels Dozens Of Flights Because Of Pilot Shortages
The company said the problems were due to training issues related to a flight simulator.
Over the last several days, Hawaiian Airlines has canceled dozens of interisland flights because of pilot shortages.
Hawaiian Airlines blamed the schedule changes on training issues related to a flight simulator. And in the end, there were not enough pilots to operate the Boeing 717.
Hawaiian said it expects interisland operations to normalize a bit heading into the weekend. They鈥檙e now using larger aircraft, especially for their busiest routes 鈥 including Honolulu to Kahului.
The airline apologized for the schedule disruptions.
Ewa Beach resident Michael Decenso was supposed to fly from Maui to Oahu on Thursday night, but it didn’t take off.
“I had a bad feeling about all flights being canceled. Sure enough it was canceled,” he said.聽鈥淚t鈥檚 kind of frustrating. I just wanted to be home.”
