Hawaii House Offices Closed Through April 30
Lawmakers and staff were told to work at home.
Offices for state representatives will be closed through April 30 to comply with Gov. David Ige’s stay at home order, according to a memo from House Speaker Scott Saiki.
Saiki’s office, the clerk’s office, the House majority office and House Sergeant-at-Arms will be open weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. with limited staff.
Offices were closed in March after Sen. Clarence Nishihara tested positive for COVID-19.
Lawmakers and their staffs are still working from home, according to Saiki’s memo. Session staff will also still be employed through May 7, the original date for the end of session.
The Legislature recessed indefinitely March 16.
