Green Will Pick Two New Supreme Court Justices
Hawaii’s Judicial Selection Commission has submitted to the governor the names of six nominees.
Josh Green will get to pick two Hawaii Supreme Court justices in his first year in office.
The Judicial Selection Commission on Wednesday sent the governor the names of six nominees to fill two vacancies on the high court.
The vacancies came from the retirements of Associate Justice Michael Wilson in March and Associate Justice Paula Nakayama in April.
The nominees are:
- Vladimir P. Devens, who leads the Law Offices of Vladimir P. Devens, LLC;
- Lisa M. Ginoza, chief judge of the state’s Intermediate Court of Appeals;
- Summer M. M. Kupau-Odo, a judge with the District Court of the First Circuit;
- Karen T. Nakasone, an associate judge with the ICA;
- Catherine H. Remigio, a judge with the First Circuit Court, Second Division; and
- Clyde J. Wadsworth, an associate judge of the ICA.
The governor has until Oct. 27 to make his appointments.
The nominations are subject to confirmation by the State Senate.
And the public is invited on the nominees.
