Green Fills Hawaii State Ethics Commission Vacancy
Roderick Becker replaces Harry McCarthy on the five-member panel.
The agency responsible for administering and enforcing the state ethics code and lobbyist law has a new commissioner.
On Wednesday Hawaii Gov. Josh Green appointed Roderick Becker to fill a vacancy on the Hawaii State Ethics Commission created by Harry J. McCarthy’s recent passing.
Wesley Fong, chair of commission, said in a press release, 鈥淗is extensive experience and expertise will be instrumental in helping us fulfill our responsibilities under the ethics code and uphold the highest ethical standards for the state of Hawaii.”
According to the Green administration, Becker鈥檚 work for state and county governments over the last 25 years includes budgeting state resources as staff of the Senate Ways and Means Committee and as state deputy Director of Finance.
He also has experience with state procurements and expending state funds.
Commissioners are appointed by the governor from nominations submitted by the Judicial Council and serve four-year terms without compensation.
Commissioners may not hold any other public office and must be U.S. citizens and residents of Hawaii.
