Gov. Green Heads To UN To Address Sustainability Summit
He will be joined by Hawaii County Mayor Mitch Roth and a panel of youth representatives from Kamehameha Schools.
Hawaii Gov. Josh Green is traveling to New York City Saturday to attend and speak at the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Summit.
He is scheduled to give an address Sunday on Hawaii’s efforts to implement policies to achieve the UN’s sustainability goals by 2030.
Also attending the summit are Hawaii County Mayor Mitch Roth and a panel of students from Kamehameha School鈥檚 Ka鈥樐乵auloa Pathways pilot program.
The program focuses on using Hawaiian indigenous wisdom and sustainability “that goes back centuries to find local solutions to global problems,” according to a press release from the governor’s office.
The students are scheduled to provide “opening protocol” and sit on a panel discussion with Celeste Connors, CEO of Hawaii Green Growth.
Green is expected to to return to Honolulu Wednesday. Lt. Gov. Sylvia Luke will serve as acting governor during his absence.
