As Hawaiian Electric Co. evaluates proposals for a new wave of renewable energy projects on Oahu, is laying the groundwork for a wind farm with up to 16 turbines on the island鈥檚 west side, even before it gets a final nod from HECO.
聽seemed to have a deal with HECO to develop a big wind farm on the eastern slope of the Waianae Range, on property owned by聽.
But Hawaii regulators delayed the project in September, saying Eurus would have to submit a bid like others.
With recent projects delayed amid community and environmental concerns, the Palehua Wind project isn鈥檛 simply waiting for a nod from HECO, said Lynn Miyahira, a Palehua spokeswoman.
鈥淭he project isn鈥檛 necessarily on 鈥榟old鈥 as they are continuing to do studies and meet with stakeholders,鈥 she said in a statement.
