Hawaii implemented statewide mail-in voting two years ago. Now, the state has introduced , a new service designed to inform voters on the status of those ballots.
Voters can sign up to receive notifications by text, email or phone letting them know when they should be receiving their ballot and where their ballot is in the voting process.
鈥淥ne of the most common questions received by our office during the 2020 Elections was if a voter鈥檚 ballot was received,鈥 said Chief Election Officer Scott Nago in a press release Tuesday. 鈥淲e recommend that voters sign up now to get ready for the 2022 elections.”
According to Nago’s office, voters who sign up will receive alerts letting them know when their ballot has been mailed and when their ballot is received and validated by their County Elections Division.
They will also be notified if there is a discrepancy with their return ballot envelope.
Mail ballots for the 2022 elections will be delivered by July 26 for the Aug. 13 primary, and by Oct. 21 for the Nov. 8 general election.
Voters wishing to vote in person will still have that option.
