Deputy Prosecutor With History Of Neighbor Problems No Longer Employed By County
County officials wouldn’t say why Randall Albright is no longer with the office.
A deputy prosecutor with a lengthy history of disputes with his neighbors is no longer working for Hawaii County.
Randall Winston Albright鈥檚 last day as a deputy prosecutor was Jan. 31, said Danielle Niimi, a human resources employee in the office of Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen.
Waltjen did not respond to requests for comments and it鈥檚 unclear if he fired Albright or if the former deputy prosecutor stepped down voluntarily or retired. A spokesman for Mayor Mitch Roth said he would not comment on a personnel matter.
Albright and his wife, Nicole, own houses in Paukaa, a neighborhood north of Hilo, and in Ainaloa, a rural subdivision in the Puna District. In both locations, the Albrights have had disputes with neighbors that have resulted in police responses and restraining orders.
One of the more serious incidents occurred in July 2021 when Albright allegedly threatened a neighbor鈥檚 teenage son with a firearm if he didn鈥檛 stop riding his dirt bike in front of the deputy prosecutor鈥檚 Ainaloa home, according to a police report obtained through a public records request.
The case was sent to the Attorney General鈥檚 Office for review. That office sent the matter to the Kauai County Prosecutor鈥檚 Office which declined to prosecute the case.
In Paukaa, an ongoing dispute between the Alrights and their next-door neighbors, Micah and Jessica Gauthier, that went to court last year was in January.
The Gauthiers are in the process of selling their house and moving away.
“It’s bittersweet. We loved that house. But that man changed the trajectory of our lives,” Jessica Gauthier said.
Albright could not be reached for comment.
