The Hawaii DOT had earlier asked for public assistance locating it.

A construction vehicle stolen from the Hawaii Department of Transportation on Maui, was recovered Tuesday morning.

The DOT had earlier reported that the vehicle, a Case Loader 521D, was last seen Saturday in Maalaea near the intersection of Honoapiilani Highway and North Kihei Road.

It was recovered nine miles away in Waiehu.

Loaders are often used to move heavy objects like rocks, fallen trees that might be blocking a road.聽

The DOT thanked people in the community who helped recover the loader and said it before returning it to service in West Maui.
