AOC Campaign Sets Up PAC In Hawaii
The New York congresswoman is backing Congressman Kai Kahele for Hawaii governor.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign registered a noncandidate committee in Hawaii Wednesday afternoon.
Why?
Who knows.
Campaign spending laws require political groups to register in the state if they intend to spend or receive money for state races. Ocasio-Cortez has previously backed former state lawmaker Kaniela Ing’s run for Congress. She now supports Congressman Kai Kahele’s bid for governor.
The scope of the new committee, according to its organizational report: “Ideological/Single-Issue.”
Frank Llewellyn, Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign treasurer, is listed as this new committee’s chairperson. The number listed for Llewellyn goes to campaign finance firm Evans & Katz. No one was available late Wednesday to talk about the new committee.
Like other political action groups, this new AOC committee will need to file campaign spending disclosures this week.
