2 Senate Staffers Test Positive For COVID-19
The Senate president says social distancing and other protocols were observed and the risk of spread remains low.
Two employees in an unnamed state Senate office have tested positive for COVID-19, but Senate President Ron Kouchi said the Senate will remain open because the Department of Health says the risk of infection of other employees is low.
In a memo circulated Monday, Kouchi said the two employees are in isolation, and contact tracing has begun.
The affected office has been closed, and Kouchi said social distancing and other protocols such as wearing masks and sanitizing equipment were followed, leading the Health Department to conclude that other employees are not likely to be infected.
Still, Kouchi urged employees who experience symptoms in the next 10 days to stay home, seek out medical care and notify the Senate.
