Mililani Ganivet, born in Hawaii and from Tahiti, is a graduate student in Paris and currently a French teaching assistant at Washington and Lee University for the academic year. Her graduate thesis revolves around the significance of the victory of Honokahua in 1988 for Native Hawaiians against coastal capitalism.
