Sunshine Topping, Chair

Sunshine Topping is the 贬补飞补颈驶颈 Lead for The Omidyar Group. She is responsible for stewarding the Omidyar family鈥檚 philanthropic interests in 贬补飞补颈驶颈 and helping evolve The Omidyar Group鈥檚 work and approach statewide. She brings more than 20 years of progressive leadership experience working for some of 贬补飞补颈驶颈鈥檚 largest companies, guiding them through periods of significant change and encouraging more outreach to the Native Hawaiian community. She also brings a passion for community service and philanthropy supporting the Native Hawaiian community, rooted in her experience growing up on Hawaiian homestead lands in Keaukaha on 贬补飞补颈驶颈 island. Most recently Sunshine served for four years as the Senior VP of Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness at 贬补飞补颈驶颈 Pacific Health.

Sunshine holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a master鈥檚 degree in public health. She is a Trustee for the King Lunalilo Trust. When she鈥檚 not working in the office or in the community, Sunshine is either surfing or spending time with her family, including her husband, three kids, and two dogs.

N膩驶膩lehu Anthony

N膩驶膩lehu聽Anthony is a Native Hawaiian activist, changemaker and storyteller from Ka驶a驶awa, O驶ahu. N膩驶膩lehu鈥檚 culturally-grounded community work, striving to improve the well-being of people and places, locally and globally.

N膩驶膩lehu is the chair for the Honolulu Board of Water Supply and the Board鈥檚 designated lead on remediation policy for the Red Hill contamination crisis. His consultancy, Palik奴, helps find policy solutions and cross-sector collaborations to serve community needs. He was a cofounder of 驶艑iwi TV, the first Hawaiian language and culture-focused television network. His work as a film and television producer has helped give voice to 贬补飞补颈驶颈鈥檚 stories through documentaries and oral histories. As director of the 贬补飞补颈驶颈 COVID Collaborative, a hui of private businesses and nonprofit organizations, Anthony oversaw COVID Pau 鈥 a statewide education and communications project to support 贬补飞补颈驶颈鈥檚 people through the COVID-19 pandemic.

A lifelong community advocate and supporter of the Hawaiian language revitalization movement, N膩驶膩lehu collaborates closely with community-serving partners to create new opportunities in policy, media, production and communications for students, teachers, and community members across the islands.

Bill Coy

Bill Coy is the senior coach and action learning curator of the Omidyar Fellows program.
Prior to joining 贬补飞补颈驶颈 Leadership Forum and the Omidyar Fellows program, Bill was a partner of La Piana Consulting and Director of Human Resources for the Catholic Diocese of Oakland and for Yosemite National Institutes, an environmental education organization. He also directed training and development for George Lucas鈥 Industrial Light and Magic (ILM), a film special effects company, and was responsible for organizational and management development at both ILM and Skywalker Sound.

Originally trained as a cultural anthropologist, Bill holds graduate degrees in systematic theology and clinical counseling. He is a licensed marriage and family therapist, is also certified in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, and has worked in organizational trauma recovery.

Josh Stearns

Josh Stearns is the Senior Director of the Public Square Program at Democracy Fund, part of The Omidyar Group. Josh leads the foundation鈥檚 efforts to support transformative leaders who are rebuilding local news, advancing more equitable journalism, defending civil rights online, and holding social media platforms accountable for their impact on our democracy and society.

Josh joined the Democracy Fund from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, where he served as the Director of Journalism and Sustainability and worked to support and expand community engagement in local news and develop new business models for journalism.

Josh is a co-founder of the Local News Lab, First Draft News and the Freedom of the Press Foundation and currently on the board of the Democratizing Philanthropy Project.

He has served as a visiting scholar in the Journalism and Communication Departments at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and has taught at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. He has a bachelor’s degree in writing from St. Lawrence University and a master’s degree in American Studies from the University of Massachusetts.

Amy Pyle

Amy Pyle is the Executive Editor-in-Chief of Civil Beat and a non-voting member of Civil Beat鈥檚 board of directors.

Amy has run teams focused on investigations and enterprise for nearly two decades, most recently as Managing Editor for Investigations and Storytelling at USA TODAY. With over three decades of experience in the field, Amy has held leadership positions at several other renowned news organizations, including serving as the Editor-in-Chief at Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting, where she led investigative journalism initiatives, and as Assistant Managing Editor for Projects and Investigation at The Sacramento Bee. Previously she worked in various roles at the Los Angeles Times, including guiding coverage of the Northridge Earthquake from the parking lot of the quake-damaged San Fernando Valley newsroom, contributing to the package that won a staff Pulitzer Prize.

Pierre Omidyar is a philanthropist, technologist and innovator who is best known as the founder of eBay. A strong believer in the power of individuals and community, Pierre鈥檚 vision for 天美视频 is to empower citizens and encourage greater civic participation through media. He believes that a strong democracy requires an engaged society supported by effective news reporting and analysis.

Randy Ching

Randy Ching is a co-founder of 天美视频, and of UP2398, a venture capital firm fostering a new generation of innovative entrepreneurs. Randy spent eight years at eBay in a variety of leadership roles. Prior to eBay, he was a corporate attorney at Latham & Watkins and Cooley Godward. Born and raised in Honolulu, Randy graduated from Punahou School. He received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and has a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law.
