Sen. Donovan Dela Cruz is one of the most prolific campaign fundraisers in Hawaii, likely because he chairs the important Ways and Means Committee which decides how state money gets spent. He isn’t up for reelection this year but is holding fundraisers anyway even though he has more than $1 million in his campaign coffers. Many speculate the senator has his eye on a higher office in 2026.

Lt. Gov 2026Mayor 2028Lt. Gov 2030He already bought Dela Cruz for Mayor yard signs. Might as well save money and continue raking it in. He pulled in more than the Governor.

Dela Cruz running for statewide office? Funny! What's next? Speculation about Joe Souki, Scott Saiki, or Donna Kim running for governor or congress?DDC doesn't have the charisma to win a major statewide election, not even for LG. But truth be known...he won't wield any greater political power/influence, doing anything other than what he's already doing now: being Ways & Means chair of the state senate. And when people know that you have a firm grip on that position, it's nothing to sneeze at.
