Can't say I've seen the Japan government come here begging us to go to Japan, but Hawaii residents can't seem to stay away from that place. Legislators need to start taking care of things at home instead

The currency exchange rate is hurting foreign visitors - all the resort fees and hotels bragging about their highest room rates in the country. Take a look at our seedy airport. We are considered the second worst in North America in a recent travel poll. There is no regular transportation from Gates to Baggage Claim and the down escalator now features a tacky video ad screen on a gaudy orange fake brick wall. The windows on the side of the escalator, that used to house a shop, now used as a storage room in disarrayed boxes and brown paper taped to the windows. For all the world to see. It is so bad. We spent so much unnecessary money creating an expensive shrine to DKI, it is really sickening. Who is in charge and is there a plan with competent, tasteful choices overseen? The long ramp walk still has yellow tape and cones and the ceiling is falling apart!

I picture Governor Green and his sidekick Saiki walking down the streets of Ginza wearing sandwich boards saying "Good Time Cheap in Hawaii" while passing out coupons for a free Mai tai in Waikiki.
