From the State Capitol to Maui, Civil Beat photographers documented the week’s news in a variety of images.

We’re giving photography and visual reporting their own platform at Civil Beat. This new regular series we’re calling “Shootz!” will display a curated selection of recent images by Civil Beat photographers and staff.

About the name … The local colloquialism of shootz is hard to define. It covers a wide variety of meanings including, “Let’s do it!” “Let’s go!” “I’m ready!” That’s also a way to describe taking pictures.
