HAWAII VIRUS TRACKER — Jan. 13: 106 New COVID-19 Cases And Three Deaths

Two of the deaths were on Oahu and the third was on Maui.

Hawaii health officials on Wednesday, including 73 on Oahu, 11 on Maui, seven on the Big Island, two on Kauai and 13 state residents diagnosed out of state.

Two deaths were recorded on Oahu and one death was recorded on Maui.

The state has seen an average of 184 new cases a day in the last week — up from about an average of 100 cases a month ago.

Civil Beat’s virus tracker is updated when the state releases its daily numbers. The state posts new data daily at noon. Daily reports reflect laboratory results collected up until 11:59 p.m. two days prior, leaving a 36-hour lag between when results are submitted to the Department of Health and when the state reports them publicly.

The official from the virus is 312. Civil Beat calculates at least 318 people have died from the disease, including six deaths on Hawaii island confirmed by local county authorities still pending medical verification by the state.

Across the state, 3.2% of people tested during the past week have been confirmed to have COVID-19. On Oahu, that figure is 4.1%.

Approximately 126 people are hospitalized for COVID-19, with 26 people in intensive care units and 22 using ventilators for breathing support.

More than half of all cases diagnosed in the islands to date have been among people younger than 39 years old, but that age cohort accounts for the fewest number of hospitalizations and deaths.
