All state-funded services are required to provide interpreters upon request. But often they aren’t available right away. That’s one reason why We Are Oceania set up its helpline to help Pacific Islanders who need information about COVID-19.
We Are Oceania’s helpline — 808-913-1364 — connects callers with community resources and offers help in Chuukese, Marshallese, Kosraean, Pohnpeian, Yapese and Samoan.
Aloha United Way’s 211 hotline connects people with a range of support services.
Kalihi residents can call Kalihi Palama community health center at 808-381-7009 for COVID-19 information or Kokua Kalihi Valley community health center at 808-791-9400 for information on testing and other questions about the virus.
The state Department of Health — 808-832-3100 — provides support for individuals and families who are sick with COVID-19 and need access to food or a place to stay.
The state’s Disease Outbreak Control Division can also be reached at 808-586-4586. After hours, people can call 808-600-3625 for general information.
The City and County of Honolulu has an information hotline 768-CITY and an email address: covidresponse@honolulu.gov. Maui County’s COVID-19 hotline is 808-270-7855.
If you need help with eviction, the state’s landlord-tenant hotline can be reached at 808-586-2634 Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to noon.
Free legal help is available at the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii at 808-536-4302Â Monday-Friday 9:00 am to 11:30 am and 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
