Hawaii health officials reported 94 statewide and confirmed another death on the Big Island that was previously reported by Hawaii county officials.
The new cases documented Friday include 74 on Oahu, 14 on Hawaii island, three on Maui, one on Kauai and two on Lanai, where an outbreak is growing. One case from Hawaii and one case from Kauai were removed from the counts, according to the Department of Health.
The statewide official death toll is 216 and the state’s COVID-19 death rate is 1.44%.
Civil Beat calculates at least 225 people have died from the disease in Hawaii including confirmed deaths on Hawaii island that have not been recorded yet by the Department of Health due to medical verification lags.
Hospitalizations statewide are still on the decline. One new hospitalization was announced Friday. There are 62 people currently for COVID-19 including 15 people in intensive care and eight using ventilators.
Oahu is currently in . Lanai is under a stay-at-home order and has recorded 99 cases since last week. At least have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus — more than double the number affected last week, with two new cases reported Friday.
