Hawaii health officials reported 77 statewide on Thursday.
The new cases include 60 on Oahu, eight on Hawaii island, one on Kauai and two on Lanai, where an outbreak is growing. Six residents were diagnosed out of state. Two deaths were reported on Oahu. One person formerly listed as diagnosed on Maui was recategorized as a resident of Lanai.
Lanai is under a stay-at-home order and has recorded 94 cases since last week. At least have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus — double the number affected last week.
The statewide official death toll is 215 and the state’s COVID-19 death rate is 1.44%.
Civil Beat calculates at least 225 people have died from the disease in Hawaii including confirmed deaths on Hawaii island that have not been recorded yet by the Department of Health due to medical verification lags.
Hospitalizations statewide are still on the decline, with 61 people currently including 15 people in intensive care. Of all the cases identified in Hawaii since March, 7% have required hospitalization and 95% were residents.
