Hawaii health officials reported 38 statewide Monday, including 26 on Oahu, nine on Hawaii island and one on Kauai. Two other Hawaii residents were diagnosed out of state and one case on Monday.
Lanai has seen dozens of new COVID-19 cases this week, including workers at the Four Seasons Resort at Manele Bay and at least 15 students at Lanai High and Elementary School. A total of 79 cases have been confirmed on Lanai to date, according to the Department of Health.
Gov. David Ige for Lanai that goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday. State officials have asked residents there to shelter in place to slow the spread.
Statewide, officials are currently monitoring 3,265 people with active infections.
Kauai County officials reported Sunday that a resident tested positive for COVID-19 after voluntarily taking a free post-travel test from the county at least three days after trans-Pacific travel.
There were no new deaths reported Monday, keeping the official death toll at 212. Civil Beat calculates at least 224 people have died from the disease in Hawaii, which includes confirmed deaths that have not been recorded yet by the Department of Health.
There are currently 75 people , including 18 people in intensive care — 21 patients fewer than were reported last week.
Decreasing levels of infections and hospitalizations on Oahu moved the county to Thursday, which loosened some restrictions on restaurants and gyms, among other things.
Of 14,709 cases of COVID-19 identified in Hawaii, 7% have required hospitalization and 95% were residents.
