Outbreaks of COVID-19 on Lanai and the Big Island grew larger Friday as state health officials reported 131 statewide and three deaths on Oahu.
The newest COVID-19 cases recorded included 67 on Oahu, 29 in Maui County, 34 on the Big Island and one resident diagnosed out of state. Two cases from Oahu were removed Friday because of updated case data, according to the Department of Health.

Lanai has limited medical resources and patients needing intensive hospital care for coronavirus complications would likely be flown to Maui. Almost 20 of the cases reported on Lanai have not been verified by state officials and added to the state’s tally.

Decreasing levels of infections and hospitalizations on Oahu moved the county to Thursday, which loosened some restrictions on restaurants and gyms.
