Health officials reported 91 statewide on Tuesday and two new coronavirus related deaths on Oahu.

The COVID-19 cases recorded Tuesday included 61 on Oahu, 24 on Hawaii island, two on Maui and four cases among residents diagnosed out of state.

Three Hawaii County deaths were reported on Tuesday by the , taking the Big Island’s fatality count to 40 deaths to date, but 22 of those fatalities are not yet reflected in the state’s reports.

The state’s official COVID-19 death toll stands at 189. Civil Beat calculates at least 211 people have died from the disease in Hawaii.

There are currently 96 people , including 22 people in intensive care.

Declining rates of new infections could move Oahu into the next phase of . Mayor Kirk Caldwell that the tier change awaits the governor’s approval.

Most of the current restrictions imposed under Tier 1 would including the current five-person limit on gatherings. Other small changes will be made to the rules for certain businesses.

If Oahu does graduate to Tier 2, some businesses will get the green light to operate at a limited capacity, including gyms and fitness centers.  Group fitness classes held outdoors are currently capped at five people, but that would increase to 10 people outdoors and
