Hawaii’s COVID-19 Cases Hit 90
On Tuesday, 14 new cases were confirmed in the islands.
The Hawaii Department of Health announced 14 new coronavirus cases Tuesday, taking the number of documented infections to 90.
Ten new cases were confirmed in Honolulu, and three others were confirmed in non-Hawaii residents. One other case is still being investigated.
The state’s first presumed COVID-19 related death was confirmed to be an error Tuesday night. An Oahu adult who died March 20, whose private laboratory coronavirus testing was inconclusive, was ruled out by state laboratories late Tuesday evening.
“We鈥檙e immediately instituting measures to ensure this doesn鈥檛 happen again,” DOH Director Bruce Anderson said.
No new cases were reported on the neighbor islands Tuesday.
To date, six people have been hospitalized. Three of the 90 patients are non-U.S. citizens.
Kauai has had one case confirmed, Hawaii County two cases, and Maui nine. The majority of cases are on Oahu, where 58 people have been confirmed to have the coronavirus to date.
