A man was shot and killed by Honolulu police in Kailua Monday.
The police shooting occurred around 3 p.m. at the Aikahi Gardens subdivision.
Honolulu Police Deputy Chief John McCarthy said the dead man, who has not been identified, was an inmate who walked away from the Laumaka Work Furlough Center. He was being sought by police.
McCarthy said the man had a gun and was in a car being pursued by police. A woman in the car, who he identified as April Fujihara, was arrested, he said.
The Honolulu Police Department is expected to hold a news conference Tuesday morning.
