The average household savings is just $2,000 while households close to retirement have saved barely $15,000 — woefully inadequate amounts to survive in senior years.

AARP National President Eric Schneidewind wants to change that and hopes Hawaii lawmakers will pass Senate Bill 2333 regarding establishing employer savings plans.
