There are no more Republicans in the Hawaii state Senate, while the number of members in the House has dwindled to six.
And some members of the GOP had argued earlier this year that Rep. Beth Fukumoto would switch parties and become a Democrat.
Nope.
On Thursday new leadership posts were announced for the Minority Caucus, and Fukumoto remains minority leader. Here are the other posts:
- Andria Tupola, Minority Floor Leader
- Gene Ward, Minority Leader Emeritus & Policy Leader
- Lauren Cheape Matsumoto, Minority Whip
- Bob McDermott, Assistant Minority Leader
- Cynthia Thielen, Assistant Minority Floor Leader
And here are some of the more聽noteworthy聽committee assignments:
Finance
- Andria Tupola
- Gene Ward
Judiciary
- Bob McDermott
- Cynthia Thielen
Majority Democrats in both chambers organized earlier this year and made only a handful of significant changes in leadership and committees.
