Hawaii County Democrats met over the weekend to pick candidates to fill the late Clift Tsuji’s seat in the state House of Representatives.
The Hawaii  that three candidates — Moana Kelii, Stacy Higa and Christopher Todd — were chosen at Keaukaha Elementary School.
The three names now go to Gov. David Ige, who will appoint one of the three to fill the District 2 seat.
The district represents Keaukaha, parts of Hilo, Panaewa and Waiakea.
The appointee will serve a full two-year term in the 51-member House, which is dominated by Democrats.
Higa served on the County Council for two terms, Todd is a distribution manager at Hawaii Paper Products, and Kelii recently ran unsuccessfully for a Hawaii County Council seat.
