Kirk Caldwell’s campaign on Sunday sent out an email blast titled “Charles Djou’s Seven Biggest Whoppers.”
The Honolulu mayor seeking re-election identifies as Whopper No. 1 the following: “Charles Djou has repeatedly said he didn鈥檛 vote against the bill providing needed medical coverage to 9/11 First Responders.”
The email goes on to attack Djou on whether he’s really聽a fiscal conservative, whether聽he’ll actually shrink the size of city government, whether his聽plans for financing rail make sense and other matters. You can .
Meanwhile, Djou held press conferences Friday and Sunday.
The Friday presser was held at聽Mayor Wright Housing in Kalihi “to share his plan to immediately address Honolulu鈥檚 need for affordable housing, which aims to directly address the city鈥檚 homeless epidemic.”
Local developer Peter Savio joined Djou.
Here’s one idea聽from the affordable聽housing and homelessness plan: “I will build 10,000 鈥榬ent-to-equity,鈥 truly affordable homes on Oahu.鈥
The Sunday presser was at Ala Moana Park. Gary Cabato, former director of the city’s Department of Parks and Recreation, joined him.
Djou argued that Caldwell had not done a good job taking care of parks, as Caldwell has oft stated.
