Add yet another endorsement for Kirk Caldwell in his re-election campaign.
On Tuesday the 2,100 member (which also has 900 retired firefighters statewide) said it supported Honolulu’s mayor because he has the聽“professional, legislative and administrative experience.”
The HFFA represents all four counties聽and state airport firefighters, although the mayor’s race is only for the City and County of Honolulu.
HFFA President Robet Lee said, 鈥淲ith his commitment to infrastructure improvements and the rail project, the result will help first responders to respond quicker聽to emergencies.鈥
Lee added, 鈥淲hile we don’t always see eye-to-eye on issues that affect our membership, we recognize he is doing his best to address all of the concerns聽of stakeholders.鈥
The Caldwell campaign has made first responders an issue in the election contest against challenger Charles Djou.
