Hawaii once again posted the highest average housing prices in the U.S., and it wasn’t even close.

The average listing price for a four-bedroom, two-bath house was $904,954, according to the 2016 Coldwell Banker Home Listing Report, which ranks 2,000 markets across the nation based on listings in the first half of 2016.

The second place state was Massachusetts, where the average listing price was $577,855 — 36 percent lower than in Hawaii. Rounding out the top five were California at $560,091, Colorado at $462,793 and Minnesota at $458,483.

Honolulu was the 14th most expensive market in the nation, with an average listing price of about $1.2 million. That was far behind the most expensive market, Saratoga, Calif., with an average listing price approaching $2.5 million. In fact, the top 11 markets were all in California, many of them in Silicon Valley.

By contrast, a similar-sized house in Detroit was about $64,000, while in Cleveland it was $73,000.
