The family of the late Mark Takai聽on Tuesday announced two聽ceremonies聽for the congressman to honor “the beloved servant leader.”

On Aug. 18, he will lie聽in state at the Hawaii State Capitol Rotunda:

  • 10 a.m. — remembrance ceremony
  • 11:30 a.m. — public viewing begins
  • 7 p.m. — public viewing concludes

The following day, on聽Aug. 19, memorial services are to be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu at Koolau,聽45-550 Kionaole Road in聽Kaneohe:

  • 9 a.m. — visitation
  • 11 a.m. — service
  • 12 p.m. — visitation continues/fellowship with guests

“In keeping with the late congressman鈥檚 tradition of celebrating Aloha Friday, the family requests participants to dress in aloha attire,” says a press release.

Overflow parking at Hawaii Pacific University’s Hawaii Loa Campus聽will be provided for the Aug. 19 service, as well as shuttle service.

Takai, who represented the state’s 1st Congressional District, died July 20 of cancer. He was 49.
