“This is the first time that the United States has hosted the World Conservation Congress — an important opportunity to bring together not just Pacific island leaders who have been a motivating factor around the urgency of action against climate change, but also conservation advocates from around the world,” Josh Earnest, the president’s press secretary, said at the White House Monday.

The president will remain on Oahu overnight.

Then, on Thursday, ObamaÌýwill depart for Midway Atoll and return to Honolulu later in the evening to remain here another night.Ìý

On Friday, the president will for hisÌýfinal G-20 Leaders’ Summit, andÌýbe the first U.S. president to visit Laos, where he will participate in the U.S.-ASEAN Summit and the East Asia Summit.

Earnest, the press secretary,ÌýsaidÌýclimate change, the global economy and the Asia Pacific region would be the main focus of the president’s travels.

But it’s a pretty good bet there’ll be no golf or shave ice on this trip.
