Hirono: Trump ‘Bizarre’ On Immigration
The Hawaii senator tells MSNBC that the GOP presidential nominee is changing his views because his poll numbers are dropping.
Mazie Hirono, the only immigrant serving in the U.S. Senate, denounced Donald Trump’s 聽Tuesday on MSNBC.
Asked if the Republican presidential candidate’s views are “softening,” , the Hawaii Democrat said Trump’s recent聽shift is “fake” because he has been making anti-immigrant comments 鈥渇or months and months now.鈥
鈥樷淗is notions聽about immigration are very bizarre, to say the least,鈥 she said.
Those notions include wanting to聽deport 11 million illegal immigrants in the country, disallowing Muslims from coming into the U.S. and building a wall along the nation’s southern border.
鈥淗e has managed to insult聽every group, including most聽recently the Filipinos, who聽he called animals,” said Hirono.
Hirono said there is only one presidential candidate, Democrat Hillary Clinton, that supports comprehensive immigration reform.
鈥淲e can鈥檛 trust someone who change聽his mind literally at the drop聽of a hat, or in this case, at the drop聽of the polls,鈥 she said.
